After taking misoprostol, you should get bleeding and cramps. These usually start after 1-4 hours, but sometimes later. Bleeding and cramps are often heavier than a normal period and become more intense until the pregnancy comes out. On average, this happens within 4-5 hours, but it can take longer. Some people may see the sac (which is white or grayish), the embryo, or the foetus when it passes, while others may only see clots. The bleeding and cramps usually slow down once the pregnancy has passed.

Passing all of the pregnancy tissue takes time. It is normal to have on-and-off bleeding, spotting, and/or cramps for days or weeks after taking misoprostol. This will slowly decrease. Your period will usually return 4-8 weeks after the abortion.
