An allergic reaction can cause different symptoms, from mild to severe.

Signs of a mild allergic reaction are tingling hands, lips, or mouth; nasal congestion; swollen eyes; itching; and/or a rash. If you experience any of these, stop taking the medication that caused the reaction.

In the very rare case of a severe allergic reaction, signs are tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat; or collapse.

If you experience an allergic reaction, you can take an over-the-counter antihistamine like loratadine or cetirizine to treat symptoms. However, if you have a severe allergic reaction, seek medical care immediately, as it can be life-threatening.
