Abortions with pills (mifepristone and misoprostol) are not recommended or may require additional support in the following situations:
You have certain medical conditions: Most people with these disorders know about them
- You have chronic adrenal failure
- You have a bleeding disorder
- You have inherited porphyria
- You are allergic to abortion pills
- You have an ectopic pregnancy
If you’re unsure about ending your pregnancy, feel conflicted, or face pressure from someone else to have an abortion, we encourage you to talk to someone you trust. You can also contact us; we may be able to connect you with organizations in your country that can help you explore your options safely and without judgement.
If you have an intrauterine device (IUD), it’s best to have it removed before starting the process, but you can still have an abortion with pills if it’s not removed. You may experience more cramping and bleeding than usual.
