Home tests detect the pregnancy hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (beta hCG) in the urine. They can still be positive for 3-4 weeks after taking the pills, so it’s not a quick way to confirm.

Three weeks after taking pills, 1 in 2 people may get positive test results, even if the abortion was successful. After 4 weeks, 1 in 5. After 5 weeks, less than 1 in 10.

You can also opt for doing two quantitative beta-HCG (pregnancy hormone) blood tests. You will need to do the tests two days apart: if the HCG is decreasing your pregnancy was terminated. This method is less reliable for pregnancies over 10 weeks.
