United States and abortion

Abortion is legal in the United states. But several cases intended to undermine the right to choose are pending before local courts and the Supreme court.

I don't know if anyone else subscribes to the NARAL pro choice email- but I just got this email and wanted to see what people were saying and what action we can take to keep abotion safe in my hometown New Orleans, and for America all together

" And just last week the Louisiana legislature passed a bill,
intended to take effect if Roe v. Wade is overturned, that would
outlaw abortion in Louisiana in nearly all circumstances."-NARAL

NARAL is starting a campaign to elect pro-choice people.

Here is a link to take action

The governer of South Dakota, US, has signed a law that will ban abortion in all cases except to safe a woman's life. Fortunately, South Dakota has no jurisdiction over the Pine Ridge Reservation and the President of the Oglala Sioux Tribe on the Pine Ridge Reservation, Cecilia Fire Thunder is determined to guarentee the right of the women in South Dakota!!! The President of the Oglala Sioux Tribe on the Pine Ridge Reservation, Cecilia Fire Thunder "To me, it is now a question of sovereignty," she said "I will personally establish a Planned Parenthood clinic on my own land which is within the boundaries of the Pine Ridge Reservation where the State of South Dakota has absolutely no jurisdiction." There are not even have exceptions in the case of rape or incest or the health of the woman. The bill was designed to challenge the Supreme Court's ruling in Roe. South Dakota was already one of the most difficult states in the country in which to get an abortion, with only one abortion provider. The poor women with unwanted pregnancies living in South Dakota are the victims

This is bad news because the ban never has never gone into effect, because it was ruled unconstitutional in several states. The ban does not permit an exception to protect the health of a pregnant woman. The two new conservative supreme court judges Alito and Roberts will be important votes in the new case
