There is disagreement among researchers as to whether induced abortion increases the chance that a woman will experience the problem of placenta previa in a later pregnancy. Placenta previa is a condition in which the placenta covers all or part of the cervix, or implants at the edge of the cervix. Some studies have shown an increased risk of placenta previa, but others have not 30 .
