I had an abortion and it was the best, most moral choice for me.

Country of abortion: United States

People couldn't believe how easily I could talk about it. Those who thought they were anti-abortion were shocked to learn that I already had a child at the time that I terminated my pregnancy (60% of women who have abortions already have one or more children), that I was aware of human reproduction and prenatal development, that I am completely comfortable with my decision (I'd do it again under those circumstances) and women who have abortions make the best, most responsible and moral choice for themselves and their families. There is just so much stigma surrounding abortion which, I believe, has been slowly eroded as women speak out about their personal experiences with abortion.

Type of abortion: in a clinic or hospital with surgery

The staff & OB/GYN were awesome! I had one-on-one counseling along with group counseling prior to my abortion. Thankfully, there was no "waiting period" for my abortion, so I was able to arrange childcare and funds in a timely manner.

Reason for abortion: rape/incest, financial issues, my age (too young or old), problems with my relationship, family size

The sex was not consensual although it was with a person who I had previously had consensual sex with. I had a four month old son and was not prepared, mentally, physically or financially to bring another child into this world... my well-being and the well-being of my son was paramount.

Feelings about abortion: comfortable, peaceful, resolved, relieved, confident, happy, sure

I made the best decision possible for myself & my family and would, no doubt, terminate a pregnancy again under those circumstances.
